Privacy Policy
Page by Page · Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains what Page by Page (the "plugin"), published by Auteur, collects when you use it inside ChatGPT, why, and what control you have.
What we collect and process
- The PDF or text file you ask it to open. It is downloaded once to extract the text; the file itself is not kept.
- The extracted text of each page, plus the file name, page count and outline, so ChatGPT can read, search and quote it.
- An anonymous, hashed ChatGPT user id, so only you can reach your documents.
ChatGPT sends us an anonymous user identifier with each request. We never receive your name, e-mail address or chat history. We store only a one-way hash of that identifier so your saved items stay yours. We do not ask for or accept passwords, payment details, government identifiers or health records.
Why
Only to perform the action you asked the plugin to do and to show you the result. We do not sell data, show ads, build advertising profiles, or use your content to train models.
Who receives it
- None. Text is processed and stored on our own infrastructure (Cloudflare) and is never shared, sold or used to train models.
How long we keep it
Extracted text is deleted automatically 7 days after you open a document. Closing a document deletes it immediately. Server logs that may contain IP addresses are kept by our hosting provider for up to 7 days for security.
Your controls
- Ask ChatGPT to close a document (close_document) to delete its stored text right away.
- See every open document and the date it will be deleted with list_documents, or from the Page by Page sidebar.
Children
The plugin is not directed at children under 13.
